About the course
This qualification is intended for those either working or aspiring to work, in a bookkeeping position to gain an understanding of the processing role. It is the progression route through the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications for those with AAT Level 1 Access, or for those without the experience of double entry book keeping. The course is delivered by an experienced, supportive team of qualified and experienced staff.
Unlike other qualifications there are no entry requirements with AAT and you don't need relevant work experience. This means that this course is ideal if you are leaving school, returning to work or thinking about a change in career.
Useful strengths include confidence with numbers, time management, attention to detail and an ability to problem solve.

What you'll learn (core modules)
The course covers
"Bookkeeping Transactions" - you will learn how to record financial transactions for sales and purchases, basic double entry, how to maintain a cash book and then use this information to extract a trial balance.
"Bookkeeping Controls" - you will learn about different payment methods, importance of controls within a bookkeeping system and use of them, reconciling a cash book to a bank statement, reconcile the sales and purchases that remain outstanding by your customers and suppliers, and also basic banking transactions.
How will I be assessed?
All assessments are computer based, time limited and are set and marked by the AAT. The assessments will take place at our Sudbury achieve the qualification and be awarded a grade.

Where will this course take me?
Successful students may wish to progress to the AAT Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping.

For your first day of studies, please could you bring a pen, paper and calculator. The fees include your text books, however there may be a need to make additional notes outside of this, and complete further assessment questions to ensure your understanding of the topics.
