Overview of course
The Water Fittings Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws are designed to prevent misuse, waste, undue consumption or erroneous measurement of water and crucially to prevent contamination of drinking water. They are a national requirement for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of plumbing systems, water fittings and water-using appliances. They replaced the former local Water Supply Byelaws which was administered by each water supplier for similar purposes for many years.
The 1 day Water Regulations course and assessment covers the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 (England and Wales) and meets requirements of the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS). This course is aimed at anyone wishing to understand and implement the Water Regulations competently and in particular those wishing to become approved plumbers / contractors.
Applicants will need to have some knowledge of plumbing and the water industry
Upon successful completion delegates will be awarded a NICEIC/WRAS certificate and are also encouraged to apply to join the Water Industry's Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS) operated by WRAS. This will enable qualified plumbers to issue a certificate of completion to customers and where necessary the Water Authority.
Certification of this course will also go towards some of the entry requirements of the criteria to join a competent person scheme, for example APHC, WIAPS, CIPHE and WaterSafe. Please note that other industry related qualifications may be required to support membership to these schemes.
Assessment takes the form of a theory examination.
