About the course
This qualification is for you if you are a 16?19 year old learner, who wishes to work as an electrician in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further onto Level 3, an apprenticeship programme or into employment. This route at Level 2 is a step towards becoming a competent electrician. The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electrotechnical sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:
- Scientific Principles
- Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
- Electrical Installations Technology
Entry requirements
Four GCSE's, including Maths Grade 5, English Grade 4 and Science Grade 4, or successful completion of our Level 1 provision.
It is expected that the applicant will have a genuine interest in the industry and each applicant will be required to attend an interview to ascertain his/her suitability for the course as well as undertake and pass a short aptitude test.

Students will develop excellent professional skills during their studies equipping them for life in the workplace. The importance of resilience and increasing confidence to work independently is strongly developed in the level 2 programme.
How will I be assessed?
Externally marked multiple choice theory exam.
The exam is externally set and externally marked, and will be online only. The exam is designed to assess the candidate's depth and breadth of understanding across content in the qualification at the end of the period of learning, using a range of question types and will be sat under invigilated examination conditions.
Candidates who fail the exam at the first sitting will have one opportunity to re-sit. If the re-sit is failed the candidate will fail the qualification.
Synoptic assignment
The synoptic assignment is externally set, internally marked and externally moderated. The assignment requires candidates to identify and use effectively in an integrated way an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories, and knowledge from across the content area.
Candidates will be judged against the assessment objectives.
Candidates who fail the assignment will fail the qualification
