Overview of course

Across all businesses, many senior job roles now require an understanding of costs, estimates and/or budgets. Despite this, it is not uncommon for individuals in these roles to have had no official financial training or accounting experience before taking on these responsibilities.

 

Whether you are already in a role that requires knowledge of costs, estimates and budgets, or are looking to progress into a role of this nature, this course will provide you with an introduction to budgeting and the essential knowledge that is required. The course will equip learners with an understanding of how to prepare operational budgets, produce cash flow forecasts and use budgets as a control mechanism.

 

This qualification is aimed at anyone working in, or looking to work in, a role that involves dealing with costs, estimates and budgets. The course is ideal for anyone who has no previous financial training or accounting experience but requires this for their role or career, and for anyone who wants to increase their accountancy knowledge for personal reasons.

 

This course comprises of online learning materials with online assessment and can be accessed at any time convenient to the delegate.

Section 3: Cash flow forecasting

This section covers the following:

  • The importance of cash flow forecasting
  • How to prepare cash flow forecasts
  • The role of the capital expenditure budget.

 

Section 4: Budgets as a control mechanism

This section covers the following:

  • How divisional performance can be evaluated using budgets
  • What a variance is
  • Possible causes of variances.
