About the course
This course provides the student with underpinning knowledge of anatomy and physiology and physiology of the human body including structure and function of the cells, skin, hair, nails, skeleton, muscles, nerves, circulatory and lymphatic systems, endocrine and respiratory systems, digestive, urinary and reproductive system and pathologies of each system. This knowledge allows identification of key factors of a healthy body.
Common diseases and disorders are included in order to identify conditions which might restrict or prevent complementary therapy treatments, and to assist in planning the most appropriate treatments. All students' work must be collected in a portfolio of evidence to include assignments, projects, written and oral questions and observed work. Externally assessed question papers will be set and marked by city and Guilds.
Entry is by interview only. Commitment to the course is a must and learners should be prepared to study at home. Learners must be a minimum of 19 years old as at 31 August.
City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies. This is a stand-alone qualification.
This qualification could be completed along side the part time body massage course.
What you'll learn (core modules)
This intensive course is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge for all Beauty and Holistic programmes offered by the School of Hairdressing, Beauty and Holistic Therapies. The course runs over twenty four weeks for three per week. The course covers core units - Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapy and Knowledge of Less Common Pathology for Complementary Therapy.

This VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies provides progression opportunities to the following courses: Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology and/or Level 3 Diploma in Body Massage.
