What will I learn?
Students will go through various techniques in basic drawing and painting depending on the student's needs. There will be still life, landscape and flowers plus scope for development of your own ideas. Objectives of the course will be dependent on ability but in general the following will be covered: Learning about or improving tone, line perspective and composition. Understanding watercolour techniques e.g. washes, glazing, wet on wet. Use of different media e.g. charcoal, pen, pastel, acrylic and oil. Understanding the colour wheel and the mixing of colours in any medium. Producing a sketchbook of work. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, allowing everyone to enjoy themselves. There are at least four art appreciation talks during the term in the tea break. The two and a half hour class allows time for work to be finished and a more experimental approach tried.
