About the course
Offers a learner-centred approach for young people aged 16 – 18 who have various barriers to learning, which may have impacted attendance, achievement and progression at school or within further education.
No formal qualifications are necessary, although an interview is essential to identify individual needs and the appropriateness of the course, plus completion of a taster day where young people can demonstrate their commitment to enrol on the programme. Understandably young people may be nervous at the prospect of entering a classroom again, but this course will build confidence and provide connections to further study and work.
Throughout the course there will be continuous assessment and portfolio building to achieve the main Certificate in Progression qualification. As part of this course you will develop your functional skills in English and maths. You will be assessed during taster days and at the start of the course leading to being entered for the appropriate exam level for both subjects. Learners with GCSE grade 3 will be enrolled on GCSE classes towards achievement of grade 4.
