The Employer Engagement team at West Suffolk College are delighted to host their first ever Management Conference. The Conference will focus on the topics of Leadership, Inspiration and Resilience and will feature a range of speakers who are renowned in their particular fields to stimulate creativity. The confirmed speakers are:
Leadership and Purpose - Priya Lakhani OBE, Founder and CEO of Century Tech
Priya Lakhani is an entrepreneur who has founded a food business, a social enterprise, now leads a company developing the latest artificial intelligence and big data technology to understand how the brain learns. Having trained as a barrister, Priya left the security of the legal profession to pursue her passion for business establishing the Masala Masala food brand, a social enterprise modeled on the principal that for every unit of item sold, a life changing item was donated to those in need. Priya’s next business was Century Tech, a company bringing together AI, neuroscience and education. As well as starting businesses, Priya has worked with government as a member of the Department of Business, Education and Skills Entrepreneur Forum. She has been named as an Entrepreneur of the Year and in Management Today’s “35 Women under 35” list.
Creative Thinking – Dr David Hall, Founder and CEO The Ideas Centre
David is a highly engaging and inspirational speaker, he coaches businesses of all types to unblock “breakthrough thinking”, introducing an “ideas culture” that drives the innovation process. Having experienced 25 years in Board Level leadership in a range of sectors, his practical approaches to creativity and innovation are geared to embedding systematic approaches within organisations.
Leadership and Resilience – Dr Karen Hester, Chief Operating Officer at Adnams plc
Karen is Adnams’ Chief Operating Officer, heading up over 550 people. Karen’s career in Adnams began as a part-time cleaner, and her tenacity, determination and talent has seen her head all the way to the top. Karen will take you on her inspirational journey from 'mop to top' and any challenges she faced along the way.
Resilience at Work – Julie Towns, Senior Lecturer in Leadership and Management
Julie is an experienced Senior Lecturer at West Suffolk College specialising in Leadership and Management and other soft skills development. She brings in her experience as Learning and Development Adviser at DHL and is completed focused on the transfer of leadership and management theories into the work environment.
Ten Characteristics of Successful People – George Fouche
George Fouche was born in King Williams town, South Africa. He is a former Wasps and South African International Rugby Player who has played against the British and Irish Lions. In addition, to his highly recommended Rugby Consultancy agency George now spends the majority of his time racing all over the UK delivering his acclaimed shows and workshops sharing his story as an example that dreams can always be fulfilled, everyone possesses the ten key characteristics to being successful and resilience can be learned.
The cost of the Conference is offered at a highly competitive price of £100 per person for the day which includes refreshments and lunch.
